Advisory Committee of the Icelandic Institute for Human Rights
The Advisory Committee of the Icelandic Human Rights Institute has the important role of supporting the institution in its work with advice, information and comments as needed.
The Icelandic Human Rights Institute is intended, among other things, to serve as a bridge between the state and civil society. It is therefore important that a diverse group of civil society organisations and other stakeholders are involved in the work of the institute.

The Icelandic Human Rights Institute is intended, among other things, to work on building a kind of bridge between the government and stakeholders in the field of human rights. It is therefore important that a diverse group of NGOs and other stakeholders are involved in the work of the institute.
The main role of the organization
The main role of the Icelandic Human Rights Institute is to promote and protect human rights in Iceland, as defined in the Constitution of the Republic, National Act No. 88/2024, and the international agreements to which Iceland has acceded.
The Advisory Committee is appointed by the board for a term of three years
Emphasis is placed on ensuring that the advisory committee reflects a diverse group of stakeholders.
Representatives from the following twelve organisations and institutions were appointed to the committee in 2025:

- Icelandic Section of Amnesty International
- Save the Children in Iceland (Barnaheill)
- Icelandic Women's Rights Association
- Iceland's National Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities (Þroskahjálp)
- The National Queer Organisation iof Iceland (Samtökin 78)
- The Icelandic Disability Alliance (ÖBÍ)
- The Icelandic Mental Health Alliance (Geðhjálp)
- Parliamentary Ombudsman
- W.O.M.E.N – Women Of Multicultural Ethnicity Network in Iceland
- National Association of Senior Citizens
